MEET JUSTIN

Back story:

I attended Bowling Green State University in 2004, undecided. Feeling lost and not sure if college was for me I met with my advisor. I decided to study Construction Management and graduated with a B.S. in 2008. Although I wanted to work as a home builder, I interned and was hired by a general contractor that built water and wastewater plants. My dream of leaving my home town was achieved with the help of this new position. I was based out of Denver and wanted to live near the mountains and snowboard. I had always dreamed of being a ski bum, but was too afraid to take the risk and leave my comfort zone. I feared the disapproval of my parents and judgement of others. Throughout my career, I have found the construction industry to be quite negative. This had a negative impact on me for many years, and I allowed it to change who I wanted to be my life. After a lot of self-reflection and work, I have found so much joy in life and in myself. I am now passionate about helping others discover this same joy.

Favorite things to do:

My favorite activities include working out at the gym, running, hiking, camping with my dog Miss Vada, creating encouraging content, and snowboarding in the trees, which is one of my most beloved places.

What recharges me:

Running long distances recharges me in more ways than one. Not only does it provide physical benefits, but it also puts me in a positive frame of mind.

When people set goals and have aspirations, they are much happier.

When we are not working towards a specific purpose, we can easily become disoriented and overwhelmed. There is an abundance of negative energy that we are exposed to on a daily basis from a variety of sources, such as social media, news, coworkers, and even family and friends. It is easy to fall into a cycle of negativity in such an environment. To assist people in developing goals and striving towards the life they desire, I want to be a positive influence and provide support. When we are young, we have a lot of ambition and motivation, but as we take on more responsibility and prioritize security, we often give up on our dreams. With the help of a coach or mentor, it is much easier to believe in ourselves and pursue our aspirations. If the people around us are not growing and achieving the same things as us, they can easily drag us down and fill our minds with negative thoughts. I want to provide the opposite support and be that positive voice that encourages and lifts up spirits. Though I will provide assistance, it is ultimately up to the individual to do the work.

Love yourself so you can love others.
